Frequently Asked Questions about Term Life Insurance:

Q:     Will I be able to obtain term life insurance coverage if I have a personal health condition, such as “High Blood Pressure” or “Elevated Cholesterol” readings ?

A:     The majority of general health concerns, if properly managed with appropriate medical care / treatment, can normally be placed for coverage. It is important to understand that each potential insurance company has varying “underwriting” criteria. Consequently, we make every effort to fully understand your particular “special needs” and to obtain a suitable insurance company with whom to place your desired coverage.

Q:     What if I “smoke” or use other types of tobacco products ?

A:     Without question, smoking or other use of tobacco products presents an additional risk factor to insurance companies, in the underwriting of term life insurance coverage. Resultantly, term life rates for tobacco user’s are higher than those for applicants who do not use tobacco.  There are however, many insurance companies who offer competitive tobacco user rates. In fact, depending on your other health factors and the specific insurance company’s underwriting guidelines ----- it may even be possible to place your coverage at “Preferred” rates !

Q:     How do I go about “applying” for term life insurance coverage ?

A:     The procedure of completing your application is quite simple and may be easily initiated on-line. You may also contact our office “toll free” by calling (866) 341-TERM / (866) 341-8376  and one of our Term Life Specialists will gladly assist you with the completion of your application forms by phone.

    Q:
Is a medical exam required ?

    A:
When applying for traditional term life insurance coverage, a brief exam is normally required. The specific exam requirements may vary some what depending on both the insurance company which you have selected, and the amount of coverage requested. In most instances, only a brief “paramedical” exam is required which consists of measuring your height & weight, checking your blood pressure, reviewing your personal & family health history and obtaining a blood & urine sample. As previously stated, the exam is brief and can be completed at a place and time which is most convenient for you.

Q:     When does my coverage begin?

A:     Your term life insurance coverage is placed in force (begins) once  your life insurance policy has been issued by the insurance company, all policy delivery documents and requirements have been satisfied and received by the insurance company, and the initial premium payment has been receipted by the insurance company. You may also be eligible to obtain temporary coverage in conjunction with the formal processing and underwriting of your life insurance application by the insurance company.

Q:     Is my personal information protected?

A:     In accordance with federal and state laws, only the insurance company underwriter, medical exam nurse and our duly licensed term life specialist will be privileged to view or have access to your personal information. Please know that we are licensed and conduct business in accordance with insurance regulations as set forth by the various insurance departments for the states in which we provide insurance services.

We fully realize that this format is not intended to answer every conceivable question that a client may have. If you have a specific question or concern ----- we welcome your inquiry.
